In my opinion, when looking for a club it is important to focus more on the things that matter - like convenience and skills development - and less on the things that don't matter - like the race of other players. Lacrosse is a sport that desperately needs more diversity, not less (again, in my opinion).
Exactly. This seems almost troll like in asking the question. You had a much better response than my snarky one that I was going to respond with.
OP here. race isnt nonsense. thanks to those who took this serious for the rest of you, you'd never say the same if I asked for LGBT friendly LAX teams. your prejudice is apparent and hence the need for more diverse team
So the answer to any type of racism or bias isn't segregation. So not sure what your point is.
It's not segregation to ask for a team that specifically understand recruiting for AA boys. Do you think recruiting is the same for everybody?
There is exactly one HBCU playing DI Lacrosse (who knows if they offer scholarships). So your point is moot because recruiting for HBCU type lacrosse is basically non-existent. You don't think clubs don't know how to assist black lacrosse players in getting recruited. My point stands.
Having a DI lax program is very different than having a D1 Scholarship. A good hunch that said schools there is more than one HBCU that offers lacrosse scholarships. wow not OP but recruitment is non existent? shame on you. VSU and Hampton both have scholarship lax players. also nothing wrong with seeking a team with minority involvement as a mission. Nation United is a great example. strong national team that advertises to minority players but also has white players on the roster. it sounds like the OP had good intent. please don’t judge the lacrosse community on some of the posters here. this is often the cesspool of lacrosse just read other threads
Having a DI lax program is very different than having a D1 Scholarship. A good hunch that said schools don't have a fully funded scholarship program - Villanova just got to fully fund their men's lax scholarships. Most teams outside the top 40 don't fully fund their men's lax scholarship program. So, yes, HCBU recruiting is non existent but for those schools. In other words, most players will have to look at all the other schools for said scholarship and recruiting. Nations United has exactly 1 team ranked (a 2026) in the 160 range of that age group. They've played a grand total of 6 games. So while you don't want to hurt the OP's feelings, I want to provide actual facts. As for OP, if they had originally asked about whether teams have diverse players, it would have gone a long way to actually asking a good question - many teams have different levels of diversity on teams. Some better than others (it is a predominately white sport) but instead the OP asked about AA specific programs.
And for those who had valuable feedback, they told OP that they would need to play on a non-diverse team, their high school and connect with the black alliance. It doesn’t matter how many teams the alliance has that are nationally ranked. They provide mentoring and support through the process. The actual facts are the most successful AA lacrosse players are associated With the black alliance and it would be good for OP to reach out to them if she thinks they could provide value to her child. It’s not all about rankings man. It’s not all about rankings. But when you have nothing to worry about besides rankings, it’s hard to understand. Thanks for the mansplaining lecture though it’s so much fun
