In my opinion, when looking for a club it is important to focus more on the things that matter - like convenience and skills development - and less on the things that don't matter - like the race of other players. Lacrosse is a sport that desperately needs more diversity, not less (again, in my opinion).
Exactly. This seems almost troll like in asking the question. You had a much better response than my snarky one that I was going to respond with.
OP here. race isnt nonsense. thanks to those who took this serious for the rest of you, you'd never say the same if I asked for LGBT friendly LAX teams. your prejudice is apparent and hence the need for more diverse team
So the answer to any type of racism or bias isn't segregation. So not sure what your point is.
It's not segregation to ask for a team that specifically understand recruiting for AA boys. Do you think recruiting is the same for everybody?
There is exactly one HBCU playing DI Lacrosse (who knows if they offer scholarships). So your point is moot because recruiting for HBCU type lacrosse is basically non-existent. You don't think clubs don't know how to assist black lacrosse players in getting recruited. My point stands.
So u think AA lax players are only interested in 1 college?
that's my point. Regardless of what a black lacrosse player is thinking to go to school, all the options outside of one are just regular colleges. Most colleges have had top end black lacrosse players on their roster - guys like Harrison, Myles Jones, the Bratton Twins and John Christmas at UVA to name a few. I wish it was more but it isn't. This person is looking for a fight for no other reason than wanting to place some emphasis on finding some mythical "diverse" program.
All those names you named are associated with the nations united club that was recommended and while they will be recruited from their HS team or nOn-diverse club team they will be mentored and supported by the black lacrosse alliance. Black players in college have it hard it’s not easy even if they play at Yale, UVA, etc. Unless you’ve talked to every black player in D1 and received feedback that they don’t have a different experience then you are just mansplaining. They benefit from AA men who have walked in their shoes is immensely important to many AA players. Some are just fine without it but many aren’t.
