Unless you are buying in a secure gated community it's fair game for anyone with a car. Same is happening in DC metro most affluent suburbs. There are car gangs that come into the sleepy $$$ neighborhoods for easy pickings. Also, mobile homes and less posh RE doesn't always mean high crime, these are also vacation homes just not for the usual DC crowd who have $$$ to drop on a summer home that would stay empty most of the year.
