OMG thank you for articulating this.  High rise jeans make women with a gut feel safe and secure because they have a piece of thick fabric covering that pooch, I guess.  In their brain, they imagine the problem is solved because no one can see through that uninterrupted wall of fabric and spy their belly.  Whew.

Except, all that fabric is accentuating and [u]calling attention to[/u] your gut.  You may feel all tucked in but the look is 5 mos. pregnant, busting out under a cinched waistband.  More flattering to locate a roomier waistband just under the bulge and wear a slightly longer top.

Well, since we’re not mincing words, women with a belly may not look like they’re pregnant in low-rise jeans but they may look like a guy with a beer belly hanging over his pants.  Add in love handles and a butt crack, and it’s not an attractive look, either.

I realize that there is no clothing that can make my belly magically disappear, but I think high-rise pants look much better on me than low-rise are far more comfortable, and longer tops can be worn with high-rise pants as easily as with low-rise pants.
