Mid rise has the waist band hitting at my hips and low rise I can't even wear. They are more like pant legs only on me
+1. Different bodies wear different styles. I'm a pear with a small waist and a long torso. Pants sold as "high waist" hit below my belly button. I literally cannot wear low rise.
(And hitting puberty in the 90s was hell because there was no diversity of styles in stores. Thankfully I can eBay old high rise pants these days.)

Nope. I haven’t seen anyone, any age, look good in high rise because it flattens your butt.
I haven’t seen anyone above a size 2 look good in low rise at any age. Mid rise seems to be the most forgiving.

They may be more comfortable or secure feeling because of a post-baby belly, but they visually have the same effect as a guy who the a dad-bod that pulls his pants up to his belly button and tucks in his shirt, unless you have a VERY defined waist AND wear a fitted top. Sorry, not sorry. It’s true.
OP, check Poshmark. Search for “vintage” low rise and you’ll find a ton.
OMG thank you for articulating this. High rise jeans make women with a gut feel safe and secure because they have a piece of thick fabric covering that pooch, I guess. In their brain, they imagine the problem is solved because no one can see through that uninterrupted wall of fabric and spy their belly. Whew.
Except, all that fabric is accentuating and calling attention to your gut. You may feel all tucked in but the look is 5 mos. pregnant, busting out under a cinched waistband. More flattering to locate a roomier waistband just under the bulge and wear a slightly longer top.
Thank you.
