the 3 letter mega clubs all play the same boring style of soccer... no personality, not playing to the players strengths, no varying from the same boring "patterns". and the things that were yelled at from the sidelines to players from coaches Is getting out of hand... these are kids. Parents... your kids get to have ONE club career before they move to the next level or stop playing... it should be about being fun, developing, learning life lessons, learning how to compete, and having a feeling of being wanted and a part of a TEAM... when did we forget that?
Yep I watch a lot of soccer. What really becomes clear is the players just doing enough to avoid being yelled at. See the defender win the ball and kick it long without even looking down field. They did their job but the sum total of the play is a turnover. No risk, no midfield, inaccurate passing, very slow speed of play. It is just a lot of one on one pushing and wrestling while most of the team watches. Any player with skills and a high soccer IQ is bored still. It is just really bad soccer from u9 to the national team on the girls side.
+10000
My kid is on a team that definitely "meh", but I really feel like this does not represent his experience or team at all. We were fairly late going to club soccer (had done rec until 8th grade because he liked playing with his friends), and we've felt like his team is really supportive and he has a lot of fun. He's a defender with a lot of "soccer IQ" and I don't think what you wrote describes him or the other defenders on his team. I wish his team had better strikers and a back-up goalie, as they really struggle when their one good goalie is sick. They are down at the Cup now, and probably won't win but will maybe have a better experience than some of the "better" teams? My impression of the big BSC system is that it probably doesn't develop good teamwork. It seems like they shuffle the teams every season, sending kids up and down, so I'm sure they don't develop much in the way of teamwork plus they probably all feel like they need to be "the star"so they don't get sent down to the lower level team.
Coaching. Some teams have good players, but the coach has a win at all costs mindset, so they play kickball. Very frustrating and doesn't help anyone, but the club I guess cuz they get a W.
