Contact support.
That’s becoming increasingly hard to do. A few years ago, I was able to contact customer service representatives by phone. More recently, I was easily ably to contact CS reps via Chat. A couple of weeks ago, I was unable to find either a phone number or access Chat in a way that would allow me to talk with an actual human being. I kept spiraling through “help” pages and automated responses that didn’t address my questions. I wonder if this is just the way it is — or if it’s linked to the specific products I had questions about. Perhaps it’s easier to access chat if it’s related to more expensive items?
This is such an issue, for a company supposedly obsessed with customer service why do they make it so hard to find a customer service number or chat option?
I think “supposedly “ is key here. In the time it takes for longtime customers to realize how bad it’s becoming, Amazon will have made billions of dollars. What’s even worse — to me — is the changes to the formerly stellar customer service at Zappos after they were bought by Amazon. As Amazon has taken over ever-larger chunks of the shopping universe there is increasingly less need to provide decent customer service to maintain their dominance.
