It would lead to more than half the states following them. Probably a one year chance to immigrate for US citizens. There would be no welfare so it would be a hearty group of people. It’s good to have choices.
So you mean all the red taker states would leave? Man, can you imagine how awesome that would be for the blue states that have been subsidizing them for the past 70 years?
The takers of all states would immigrate to the blue country. Producers would move to red
Sure. No social security, medicare, FDIC, farm subsidies, federal highway program, federal prison system, CBP, Homeland security, military, access to US weapons, access to the US market, OSHA, unions, worker rights, SEC, etc. All companies with HQ in Texas or other states would be considered foreign companies and taxed according. Oil and gas producers would lose subsidies. Texas gets anywhere from 25-50% of it state budget from the federal government. No NFL or college football. About 1/2 the state’s population would leave the state. It would be a very hard time in Texas. Texas would also reinstate slavery.
The Republic of Texas would just go bankrupt again after achieving "independence" and then come crawling back to the U.S. like it did 180 years ago.
Agree. They'd instantly hit 20-25% unemployment levels. But sure, let them try, and learn the hard way.
