Apparently it's an Appalachian thing? (According to some social media posts I've seen recently, at least). I grew up making it with my grandparents and cousins, and my grandparents were originally from WVa. Anyway, we put out a few mixing bowls when snow is predicted so we don't have to scrape it off anything that might be dirty. [/quote]
