Mine just got inside from sledding with the neighbors for 2 hours. This morning we all shoveled the cars out together and she touched up the snowman we made earlier in the week. Definitely watched a lot more TV this week than typical but, she's also been home more. Everyone's raised their kids to fit their own lifestyles, you can't really compare them.

Apparently it's an Appalachian thing? (According to some social media posts I've seen recently, at least). I grew up making it with my grandparents and cousins, and my grandparents were originally from WVa. Anyway, we put out a few mixing bowls when snow is predicted so we don't have to scrape it off anything that might be dirty.

You scrape just the top layer off. You don't go all they way down to the ground!

Snow is disgusting and full of dirt and bacteria even if it looks fresh/clean. 🤢

Fresh fallen snow is pretty clean. And everything is full of bacteria, including us. We walk around with more bacterial cells in and on us than our own cells. (OK, they're tiny and amount to a fraction of a kg.)

I am a single mom of an only 2nd grader. We did some cookies baking and then a neighbor came over. We have limited same age neighbors and my work is somewhat flexible so I am always the one that needs to babysit in order to make this happen. The kids played in the snow for about an hour, made crafts and did gymnastics. When the friend left my DD got some iPad time. On Wednesday we did some sledding (didn't last long because she was cold and her boots weren't the warmest), some screen time and a walk in the neighborhood. Today will be a mix. If my work wasn't so flexible I would definitely have to use more screen time

I sent my kid to KAH on Wednesday and picked him up w a friend and they played video games for 2 hrs.

Tuesday: we bribed the 12 year old to shovel. He came back in a did a bunch of school work he was behind on and then played video games for hours. As far as I know - I was out of town.

Wednesday: walked out and went sledding for a few hours, then video games and school work.

This seems like what I would expect for a snow day.

They helped me clear the driveway and sidewalk. 1 stayed in to read manga, watch anime and talk to their friends. DS2 went to the basement to shoot and stick handle for a whike as usual, then came outside to join their other siblings. They went to build a snowman and went tobogganing with DH. Met up with their friends and had a snowball fight then went back to tobogganing. Came inside for some hot chocolate and a snack with their friends and then went back outside. Did that for 4 hours came inside to play video games and then I sent their friends home. They really enjoyed the snow days! There was even a teen boy walking around shoveling sidewalks for a small fee around the neighborhood.

Prepped for CogAT and MAP testing of course. Gotta get ready.
