How was the getting home after? All those Metro stations were closed.
We drove and parked at City Center for $10. It's a 5 min walk from the arena. Thousands of people streaming out and doing the same thing at 12:45 so it didn't feel sketchy. Frankly, they've cleaned up downtown a lot. It was also bitterly cold last night, so no one was really out except people leaving the arena and local hospitality workers going home for the night.
There was a police involved shooting 2 blocks away around 8:30, when the show was supposed to start. Also very close to the holiday market. The man shot had a gun and fled from police. So, not that cleaned up. Glad you had a nice time. Her shows are not selling out so anyone interested can score last minute. Enjoy!
We walked from Zatenya to the arena at 930pm. Didn't see anything, it was very calm. Literally saw two homeless people in our entire time downtown. It's a lot less than a year ago. Unclench. It was fine. There will be crime in cities.
NP. You're cute. You see two homeless people in one evening downtown and tell others to "unclench" on the basis of that. You don't get that you're equating visible homeless people with crime, do you? The ones committing crimes around there aren't the homeless you see on grates trying to stay warm, idiot. You seem pitifully unaware of the huge spike in crime including carjackings and muggings in DC, including the area around the arena, in the past year or so. But you do you, brave ol' city dweller. I know that area well and it's unquestionably less safe, night or day, than it was a year ago. A simple search online would have told you that, with plenty of statistics, but you can't be bothered because as long as YOU feel safe and cozy, it's all good, right?
100% DC is rapidly deteriorating and so easy to see. That said, I’m going to the concert tonight and fully aware that if I make it home unscathed I’ll be lucky. I will leave my Canada Goose jacket at home and prepare to Vogue my way home hopefully in my car that still has wheels and doesn’t attract carjackers as I venture out. 🤘🏼
