Independent private schools (not the Mary O'Mary's Catholic/parochial school for girls and boys type that middle and lower middle class families send their kids to), comprise 40% of the student body at most Ivy League schools.
No, this is a lie, and the dishonest reference to parochial schools suggests which crowd the lying poster is trying to stir up. Most Ivies currently pull about 60% (give or take) of incoming freshman from public schools. The remaining 40% come from a combination of independent day schools, religious schools, boarding schools, and foreign schools. To the extent that the data are broken down, religious schools comprise about 10% (again, give or take) of incoming freshman at the Ivies (in some instances, a greater share than the independent boarding schools that were traditional Ivy feeders -- so there's equity in action for you).
