Same! That irritated me so much, especially since her "happy ending" was conforming to the kind of person they wanted her to be. And as somebody who is a flaming liberal this feels weird for me to say but that part about how they tore her apart for her comment about their kid being gay just did not land well with me. Maybe a gay person can set me straight on that though.

As for me, my favorite holiday movie is The Holiday, followed by kids movies like the grinch.

She was more of a self-absorbed snob than a shy introvert and she was meant to be very unlikeable. Yes, the family was judgmental and terrible too but that was the point of the movie--they were all a bit dysfunctional but they're family. That's why I love the movie--it shows the bad and good parts of each person in the movie and how, in the end, they all love one another, despite the fact they aren't perfect.[/quote]
