1:12:10 in the video. Four candidates are for lowering the voting age in city elections to 16. Fulton, Valeri, Belay, and Shaw. Neither candidate for Mayor raises their hands. Permit non-citizens to vote Jackson, Valeri, Scott, and Shaw. Neither candidate for Mayor raises their hands. Everyone is in favor of term limits EXCEPT for Scott and Pierzchala who do not want them. Everyone is in favor of having representitive districts EXCEPT for Ashton and Mui (Republican). My personal opinion on these matters is: Yes, Yes, No, Yes I think allowing 16 and 17 year olds to vote in city elections is an amazing idea. I have no problem allowing non-citizens to vote for the city elections. Obviously they're never going to vote for President or Congress but to me the city is a different situation and our non-citizen neighbors are important parts of our community and I think their voices should be heard. I don't think term limits are generally good just because I want people to plan for long term and I don't think term limits have been especially successful in a lot of ways when they've been tried elsewhere. Lastly, I'm definitely in favor of representative districts. Right now the council is basically all from west Rockville and I believe giving people in other parts of the city a voice is important. The wealthier and whiter area has far more voter turn out. It's incredibly difficult to get people with other viewpoints or priorities for parts of the city (like East Rockville) elected without representative districts. I live between town center and 270 so I say this as part of the over-represented population.
