My parents are wealthy and this exact scenario played out with our first baby -- $100 for a stroller. Which we graciously accepted! They also contribute $200 a year each to our kids' tuition and act like they're making a significant dent in that bill. :D When my grandfather died my father distributed money with strings attached and put the rest in some sort of fund. He gave our family $30k for us to have our kitchen and bathroom remodeled. Of course this didn't even cover half of the kitchen (old house, needed lots of plumbing/electrical work) and we didn't even bother with the bathroom. And my father insists we got robbed and should have shopped around for even more "bids" as if contractors would be fighting over doing our little kitchen.[/quote]
