But, to reiterate, Republicans claimed that it was an attempt to stop the vote and caused the evacuation of the Capitol. The event didn't even take place in the Capitol and did not disrupt the vote. Moreover, Bowman didn't want to disrupt the vote, he voted in favor of the bill. We have now learned that the door in question is normally open, but closed on weekends. Bowman was attempting to go vote and the sign on the door said to push and wait for the alarm. Bowman claims he thought this meant to pull the alarm that was right next to the door. This is completely different than an attempt to disrupt an official proceeding of Congress. [/quote]
