My rule of thumb is that if I ask you out, I pay on the first date. In fact, I recently went out with a single mom and offered to pay for the babysitter. I told her that it should not be totally her responsibility. It can be an awkward situation in this day and age and what I like is the woman helping out on subsequent dates. For example, we go to a movie, I pay for the tickets and she offers to cover the snacks or we get a coffee afterwards and she says, my treat. [/quote]
