The point is that [b]on any highway that's not terribly congested, [/b]driving properly (using the left lane for passing only) means that NO ONE needs to adjust their speed to other cars. The "drive in the right lane, pass in the left" takes care of that problem entirely! Everyone can drive at their desired speed!

This forum is about the DC area, where the bolded is not true. You almost never have clear open road here. Speeders who pass me will encounter someone new a few car lengths ahead: if that person weren't there I'd probably be going faster already.

Do you never drive outside of rush hour? Of course there are times when we don’t have bumper to bumper traffic.
