Equity for All 2025 is working. Alexandria doesn't need anything else.
Hear, hear! Hope homework is eliminated. Hope TAG, honors and AP classes will be eliminated. Hope all the remaining Covid money is spent on ELL and students with disabilities.
I assume this is sarcasm but it missies the mark to the extent it implies that ACPS views helping its students with disabilities as a major part of its focus on “equity for all”
That's been clarified--it is "racial equity" now. No chance of students with disabilities being part of it. In fact, students with disabilities are more segregated than ever--even using separate entrances at schools.
I'm disgusted that our ACPS elementary website has standard ACPS language including that racial equity is at the center of every decision. Not gender equality, not LGBTQ, just racial, and it doesn't even seem to mean all races, in practice.
Wow - https://www.acps.k12.va.us/ i think the “racial equity” language is a meaningful change in wording even if I wonder if it was deliberate. For all my issues with ACPS, I do think there are some focuses on equity beyond “racial” - for example transgendered student rights. Because of that, I question how that change ended up on the website.
