Equity for All 2025 is working. Alexandria doesn't need anything else.
Hear, hear! Hope homework is eliminated. Hope TAG, honors and AP classes will be eliminated. Hope all the remaining Covid money is spent on ELL and students with disabilities.
Our ACPS elementary (George Mason) didn't have homework for the six years we were there. That was by design by the then principal who said that homework wasn't equitable and many of the teachers followed suit. I never saw a classroom test or any graded classroom work after K. The school has cratered and is the only elementary school that is still hemorrhaging students. Eliminating TAG, honors and AP is what Hutchings advocated/advocates for. The current superintendent was his pick so it's very likely she subscribes to his equity philosophy. It's assumed that he (and now Mozingo) are well paid consultants to the district. I do hope the $54 million ACPS collected in covid funds gets spent on ELL and students with learning disabilities. They were treated horribly and completely failed during COVID. The UMC kids and parents benefit immensely from going to an urban, failing district when it comes to college acceptances. It's time to right that wrong.
