I did his college drop off too. My DH stepped up to keep me engaged with other things so that I was not too emotional but in the end, I don't want my kids to be burdened with my emotions. Thankfully, my kid went close by even though he lived in the dorm. Which meant that he was coming home quite regularly for all kinds of stuff and did not miss family occasions. I am very happy for them because they are happy with their lives and successful.

Until my kids get married and move to their own house, we will keep their rooms the same, so that they always have their space in our house. In this day and age, kids are not independent in the same way we were.  No one is getting a job after undergrad. They are moving on to graduate school etc.  So, there is some time before they actually launch.  [/quote]
