College drop off will be ugly. At the same time, I’m a single mom and can’t wait to have some time to myself again. My son and I joke that I will in the running for a rare double win: biggest crier at drop off, happiest empty nester 1 week later.

No, I won’t, but that’s my personality. I’m not a cryer and haven’t had tears or emotions like that at any of their milestones. It’s been more of a fun celebration and looking forward to what’s next. I understand how many cry though.

I expect to cry next week. And I am not the overly emotional sort. HS grad is not a big deal for my kid - fully expected and in some ways just another day. I am also really excited for her going to college. But nevertheless, I know I will cry.

I did get a lump in my throat and shed a few tears.

I was too focused on the larger than normal group and family but I cried later looking at pics and remembering them as a little baby now graduating high school

I was very emotional seeing all the kids i have known since preK graduate and the fellow parents who all worked so hard. I was teary-eyed but I did not do ugly cry. I have been a super involved parent and my youngest especially was super lucky in all his years of public schools, to be in the best programs, get the best teachers and the very best classmates. School was super easy for him and he excelled easily. I actually miss being involved in his school.

I did his college drop off too. My DH stepped up to keep me engaged with other things so that I was not too emotional but in the end, I don't want my kids to be burdened with my emotions. Thankfully, my kid went close by even though he lived in the dorm. Which meant that he was coming home quite regularly for all kinds of stuff and did not miss family occasions. I am very happy for them because they are happy with their lives and successful.

Until my kids get married and move to their own house, we will keep their rooms the same, so that they always have their space in our house. In this day and age, kids are not independent in the same way we were. No one is getting a job after undergrad. They are moving on to graduate school etc. So, there is some time before they actually launch.

Tears of joy, DD has been such a pain in the last few month, glad she will be gone soon

I’m crying reading this post and will definitely be crying next week at graduation!

No crying here. Was so happy and excited for all the graduates, many of whom we've known since kindergarten. Afterward, found our graduates took lots of photos, then headed out to a family lunch to celebrate.

I’m going to sob. Big ugly wailing. My kids will hate me. 😂

I just remembered my son’s kindergarten graduation, when they played “the greatest love of all (“I believe that children are our future”) 🎶 I will definitely cry at his HS graduation on Friday!

Graduation today! I did not cry at the time, but now I am having all the feels.

She's my last child to graduate HS and I realized we are DONE with this chapter of our lives. It's crazy.

I sat next to the parents of her best friend; they started PreK together! What a ride.

I have twins at different high schools, so I’ll have two graduations mere days apart. Don’t know whether I’ll cry, but I sure hope I won’t be more emotional at one than the other or I’ll get complaints.
