Multigenerational household, or any time you're looking to put grandparents in the back, you need a minivan, not an SUV. So much better space, comfort, and sliding door access, for children and older adults. Unless you're going Suburban or something, most SUV third rows are very uncomfortable and almost useless for anyone younger than 5 (because *you* need to climb back there to buckle them in) or older than 10 (because the space is small). With the third row in use, there is a laughably small amount of cargo space, and the third-row passengers are in much greater danger in a rear-end collision, because their heads are closer to the rear window. IIHS ratings don't test in all seating positions. [/quote]
