Politico is reporting on another shady Republican Supreme Court Justice land deal. This time it's Neal Gorsuch who was having trouble selling some land in rural Colorado. Two years of futility. Then, nine days after he was confirmed to the Supreme Court, an offer comes through! And, wouldn't you know, it's from the CEO of one of the nation's biggest law firms with a lot of business in front of the Supreme Court. Gorsuch disclosed the sale but left the identity of the purchaser blank. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/04/25/neil-gorsuch-colorado-property-sale-00093579 I don't think he's as corrupt as Thomas though. And mystery still swirls around Kavanaugh and some of the debts he had that disappeared. I think Roberts is honest. And I don't have any reason to think Comey-Barrett has been bought. Alito is a hack through and through, so if something dirty came up about him, I wouldn't be at all surprised.
Oh, they are all corrupt in the left’s eyes. The goal is to get the majority back by false accusations. Standard playbook.
This. And, it appears that the Politico story is a BS one by someone who does not understand an LLC. [twitter]https://twitter.com/EdWhelanEPPC/status/1650881068797423619[/twitter]
It looks like the wording by Politico was off inferring to the sale of the LLC vs the sale of the property. But that doesn't mean people don't get to criticize him for it. If Sotomayer did the exact same thing I would criticize her for it, disclosure form or no. Also, the guy who wrote that thread is way too wordy but it it still isn't clear who he sold his share in the LLC to- did they liquidate it or did he sell it to another member? If the former then the technicality is more thin- the money was only in the LLC because of the sale of the property. The point of the form is to "follow the money" and the money came from a lawyer whose firm has business before the court. It isn't like there are any consequences to him not disclosing- the only thing Americans can do it side-eye him. The fact that he may have technically filled out the form correctly doesn't mean that he is in the right here, it means that the form should be changed.
