On Northeastern Oakland, the campus looks very nice. Dorms and academic buildings look great. I also was impressed with how they are structuring the CS program. The intro classes will be much smaller in Oakland. NE said they had hired faculty from the Bay Area to bring them to Boston (before they had the Oakland campus). At least one prof ended up staying in Oakland instead of moving to Boston as planned.

In some ways it is like starting at a SLAC and then having the benefits of a large school when students go to Boston. My son’s issue is that he wants an urban campus, so the lush, beautiful Oakland campus may not be for him. I did read that there are shuttles and public buses that can take you to a BART station. They also have scheduled trips to Lake Tahoe, Monterey Bay and to downtown SF. [/quote]
