It's a HUGE thing. City of Alexandria schools are maxed out pass capacity because of all the kids coming in from DC and MD. This is done right out in the open, a few woman at work bragged about this living in MD sending their kids to Alexandria city public schools. I don't think Alexandria seems to care though since they do nothing about it.
Meh, it's more a myth than a thing.
BS I know of 12 families who do this.
Why? ACPS schools are terrible and unsafe. Why bother even if the schools in their area are terrible and unsafe?
No idea why but our ACPS elementary school is close to the WW bridge to Maryland and our drop-off/pick-up lines are full of Maryland license plates. It's definitely not a myth.
When I lived in both a small condo complex and large apartment tower in Alexandria, at least half the residents’ cars had Maryland or DC tags. That’s incredibly common here.
Automobile taxes are cheaper in Maryland.
There is no personal property tax in Maryland.
