Op here. Thank you for all comments. We already have science museum, aquarium, zoo, children museum, city bus tour, swan boat, park playground, harbor cruise etc in the plan with kids. I don't think it is run by college student because I will book the tour from other websites. It is like $20 pp per each tour, and $15 pp for harvard museum. I am curious of these 2 colleges as an adult, and there's a chance that I may not ever visit boston again. Because we only do travel once a year, so technically there is no limit on travel budget. We would love to visit different cities or countries every year. If I don't do it this time, well, I may never do it in my lifetime. I like tour because I don't need to plan/prepare & I do not need to worry about getting lost. And, I can always leave the walking tour or end the tour early if I want to.
Your priorities are all messed up. Please stop thinking of HYPSM (you know the acronym, right? Look it up) as these magical places that somehow offer something no one else does. It's not true. The more you put things on a pedestal, the more you'll be sorely disappointed later. Don't hurt your kids by talking up these Ivy League schools - you will create enormous pressure and anxiety in them as they grow up, because it's nearly impossible to get in, even for extremely talented students. As an Asian parent, I feel you write like a poorly educated Asian who has entirely drunk the cool-aid and believes Harvard is the key to her kids' success. One of the worse stereotypes possible. If you talk like that in public, know that people think you're ridiculous. Keep the obsession with grades and name-brand colleges in your own head, and feel free to visit, but without your kids. They can do the appropriate tours when they're high schoolers.
