OP said she had a medical issue that is quicker to go through precheck with.

If you have a medical device that cannot go through the body scanner and you use precheck to avoid that, that's a good enough reason to separate.  Otherwise you have to wait for a patdown and search of your devices.

I’d hardly consider this unaccompanied. They are splitting at the start of the line and merging at the end.
