Anonymous wrote:OP here. Thanks for the helpful comments (and not so much for the unhelpful, judgy ones, but that is DCUM). Your points are well taken. For those wondering, the issue is a medical condition that almost always results in additional screening. Precheck is easier and less embarrassing. It's not just me being a diva.

It’s insane people like this exist.
Simmer down. She's not sending her to a foreign country alone. She's sending her to a different line 2 feet away. What's wrong with you??
OP, I get you on the medical issues. I have a kid with one and get the ease of using precheck. I'd send the two girls to the regular line together.
You are vacationing together not going on a work trip, just stand in line together, it's not that big of a deal.
It's not about safety it's about having manners.
OP said she had a medical issue that is quicker to go through precheck with.
If you have a medical device that cannot go through the body scanner and you use precheck to avoid that, that's a good enough reason to separate. Otherwise you have to wait for a patdown and search of your devices.
OP ignore the harpies on here. Send the girls together. They will be fine. It's not like you won't be able to see them the entire time.
Bad advice unless you get the ok for this crazy plan from the girl's mom. I would be pretty mad if someone left my child that was a guest with them unaccompanied at the airport like this.

Except it kind of is you being a diva. You can absolutely go through regular security with her. It’s just “Easier and less embarrassing” for you. What about your guest? Maybe consider what’s easier and less embarrassing for her?
You are a peach. They are 14, they probably WANT to stand in a different line than mom for LESS embarrassment. Take their bags for them thru pre check and it will be so easy for them.
OP stop coming back to this thread and just do what you need to do.

Anonymous wrote:Should be fine. DS flew today from BWI with no pre check and said security completely empty virtually no line for anyone.

Your 14 year old can’t go through a line alone? You probably wouldn’t have agreed to the trip in the first place. 14 year olds don’t need to be in sight of an adult at all times.
Not PP, but it's basic courtesy. If I'm the adult in charge of a minor guest, I do not leave them to deal with an unfamiliar line in an airport. If I can't accompany them, I get someone else to do so: my own kid.
It's a point of etiquette.
