I commuted 12 miles RT (Arlington to 20th & L) for 3 years and then 28 miles RT (Franconia to 20th & K) for 3 years. As you can imagine, a great part of the commute was on roads. In all that time, I only had one accident and that was when a Tupperware container somehow came off my bike rack and got stuck between the rack and the back wheel. I was clipped into the pedals, had slowed to hop a curb, tried to pedal to accelerate and basically came to a dead halt and fell over - still clipped into the pedals. Didn't break anything but went out and got panniers the very next day. You're DH has had way too many accidents. If he insists on riding still, you should only agree if you can bump up his life insurance policy significantly - I'm not joking. (and i'm really sorry)[/quote]
