I personally have a lot of criticism about the American government and the hyper-privatized nature of institutions, whereas MoCo’s system of governance gives me more of a Northern European vibe. I think most of the council and Elrich especially would align with center-left pro-labor coalitions which is very normal.
My spouse is a Brit and says the liberals here are more like the moderate conservatives in the UK. The US is more to the right politically than most of Europe. So yea, I could see why you like MoCo govt.
My spouse is European too and used to say the same...but he thinks the current WH would be considered far-left back home in most social aspects.
I think it depends on the European country. And which part specifically is the WH more far left than Europe?

More frustrating than the half point raise, is the usual trope about "it's about they paid their fair share" and such.
Also- property tax increases on home assessment is a de facto increase just about every single year, but that is just a given.
The most likely scenario is that this bill dies in committee. But how dumb are these people? Maybe it’s not enough to make people leave but it’s certainly enough to make people think twice about relocating to MD instead a neighboring jurisdiction with a lower tax burden. Who would purposefully move somewhere that had the highest tax burden? DC currently has higher income but lower property taxes. VA has equivalent property tax but lower income tax. They want MD to have both the highest income and property taxes. Real smart.

Why would somebody bother to disparage the county without a reason?
I posted above about the council’s treatment of the police department. Just look at the massive vacancies and the poor recruitment response to see what our county government has done. It’s well known that Montgomery County government does not respect or support policing, so recruits pick neighboring counties that pay better and are more supportive. That’s why we have so few now; calls are increasing because of rising crime, yet we have fewer officers to respond.
This was a preventable problem.
You are a frequent poster on this forum, so you should be well aware of the frequent posters on this forum for whom disparaging Montgomery County is a hobby, if not an avocation.
How do you, anon poster, know who is a frequent poster? I think I know the answer but would love to hear.
I'm the PP you're responding to. When there are many posts, on many threads, that all say the same thing in the same way, it's reasonable to assume that the posts are from the same poster.
