The sheer waste depresses me most. I’m not rich by DCUM standards, but certainly by most of America. We have so much stuff it’s insane. Then we buy bigger houses to fill with even more stuff. Fast fashion, home decor, big box purchases that end up filling our basements and garages - why? So we can feel like we’ve made it in life? The older I get, the less stuff I want to accumulate.
Yes. Garbage and recycling day on my street is so depressing. So many families have overflowing bins every.single.week. I'm not talking just the week after a holiday or the week you cleaned out your garage. Every.damn.week. DH and I are constantly asking each other - why do we have so much less garbage than everyone else? Where is it all coming from? Also, the number of people who can park ZERO cars in their two car garage that we all have.
