Those people need to be locked away permanently--one strike you're out forever. I do agree that for the majority of prisoners who are not murderers and molestors we need something else. Jails/prisons should be required to have schooling, therapy, rehab, anger management etc. Prisoners should leave better able to cope with the world than when they went in. They should be able to find a job of some sort--mechanics, tech, appliance repair, whatever. If we lock them away and then don't provide the tools they need to succeed on the outside, then that's a real problem.We also need to bring back mental hospitals so people with bona fide mental illness aren't in prison which isn't where they belong, and they're not living on the streets terrorizing people walking by etc.[/quote]
