I think the world is divided into to camps: those who believe with all sincerity that hunger pangs are always true indications of your body's needs, and those who think our bodies have become confused by what amounts to biological disinformation. Yes, I ignore hunger cues and no, I am not starving. Occasionally, I am uncomfortable for about 10 minutes as my body sends me hunger cues, but I am in no danger of malnutrition or death.
I think this is the biggest part of it. IMO, you should be hungry when you sit down to a meal. It’s more comfortable and enjoyable to eat when you’re hungry. I eat everything- bread, pasta, dessert, etc. And no a salad isn’t a meal! But it can be a nice accompaniment to a meal. I just make sure my meals include plenty of fruits and vegetables and I don’t snack. And I rarely drink. It makes me sad that people think they have to starve themselves to be thin, or that every hunger pang is a crisis which must be addressed. I also don’t understand grazers. Are they ever full???
