My son was admitted to UDel. My DH and I very much liked the campus, his college (Engineering), the size (not too large, not too small), and the distance from home (Mont. Co.). I thought the Engineering faculty and dean were amazing during the 2 visits we had. My son also liked the campus, Engineering tour/faculty, the size of the campus & student body, and the fact that it wasn't 25 miles away with tons of kids from his HS (aka College Park). He was offered significant merit aid and honors program. But my son decided Delaware wasn't "his place" and ended up at a school in the south. Delaware's student population was just too much NJ, NY, Philly, and DMV kids. My son was really looking for something "different" than DMV. I was a bit sad about his decision, but I understood why.
When I was at UD it pulled from NJ, NY Philly and northern Delaware. I only met one girl from Maryland and she was from Reisterstown. I don't think I ever met anyone from Virginia or DC. Very few kids were from lower Delaware. I was from the eastern shore of Maryland and probably was considered a hick.
