DD could not have gotten in to UMCP. We also looked at JMU/CNU/VCU, Miami Ohio, UMBC, Towson, Elon, Temple, Pitt.
Honestly, based on the campuses, I would pick UMBC or Towson over UMCP.
I know people here are all wrapped up in numbers/prestige, but there is more to whether a school is a good fit.
Agreed that fit is very important but never umbc or Towson over UMD lol

Every school has VERY smart students, who sometimes choose lower ranked schools because that is what they can afford.

A friend of mine decided to go to UD in state instead of UVA for undergrad. I believe she got a full tuition scholarship at UD.
She wound up at Harvard for grad school.

Very few kids were from lower Delaware. I was from the eastern shore of Maryland and probably was considered a hick.
Interesting - yeah, it did pull a lot of NJ and PA people. But I definitely knew some MD folks - of course, I grew up in Cecil and some of the kids from my hometown went to my DE parochial HS (I moved into DE right before starting HS). A HS friend of mine is an alum and her daughter is going there (they still live in MD)

Don't jump on me. This is my opinion only.
As a UMD alum and former resident of Newark, DE, I agree with this. I love the UMD campus but the town around it is....not great. And even the campus is so built up now. UD is just more manageable and the town is great. Also a lot of good internship opportunities with Philly so close. I lived in Newark after graduating and wish I would have visited UD--not sure I would have gone there over UMD but would have considered it.

Yea, this is total BS. If these people have kids smart enough to get into UMCP, they're gonna get into better schools than Delaware.
My daughter got into UMCP, Pitt, Ohio, Nova but decided in UDELL. She is nursing and it is direct admit, she got into Honors, got some scholarship money. She wanted to go away to school and UMCP does not have nursing.
This is all you had to say.
The RN program is very demanding and prestigious at UD. Biological sciences are very, very strong at UD.
Chem Engineering is very, very strong.
