MD drivers still haven't figured out that the left lane is for passing.

So in your case you were there so driver passed you on the shoulder (not safe but another MD driver) and came back I to left lane. BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ONE IN FRONT OF YOU IN THE LEFT LANE.

Or the driver passed you on the left and couldn't get back into the left lane because there were other MD drivers making a turtle parade in the left lane.

Yes it is. You should never drive in the left lane. Drive in lane 2 and if you approach a car, pass it in the left lane. Driving in the left lane is dangerous. It forces people to pass you in the right which is the reason for most high speed accidents.

This is absurd. The left lane is a traffic lane that holds a significant amount of volume. It’s not “for passing” - it’s for the faster traffic. And it’s also not for “driving up on anyone as fast as you want then passing on the shoulder.” The problem with the left lane is people going unexpectedly below the speed limit; not people (like OP) driving at an appropriate rate. OP's appropriate rate wasn't appropriate. Just move over. If OP had enough time to see someone coming up flashing lights then there was enough time to change lanes. We all know there was room to move over. OP just didn't want too. Not totally to blame but just move over if you see a car approaching fast behind. It could have been an unmarked cop for all OP knew. But instead just sat there in the left lane. [/quote]
