I have an adult child with ADHD and executive function challenges who struggles with this. I do see it as the role of a loving friend to talk about this. Here's the straight forward advice I have given my child. 1. Shower every night. Use a wash cloth to scrub in the shower and towel dry completely. (Sometimes the towels will smell like BO -- wash them with Oxiclean) 2. Use antibacterial soap. I like Dial brand. 3. Use "Clinical Strength" Antiperspirant. I like Secret brand. The directions say to use it at night. I strongly suggest morning and night. 4. Wear clean clothes. Even if you think the clothes you wore yesterday are not dirty, they won't help with your body order if they aren't freshly washed.
+1 I have PTSD and my trauma is shower-related. Most people don't know. It takes a lot for me to shower 3-4 times a week. In bad months, I do it once a week, but I try to hit it every other day as a routine. I had a nightmare last night, and even though my clothes were clean today, I could smell myself a bit later. I sprayed on some perfume. I just couldn't poasibly bathe thia mornjng. Ugh.
