Young straight white Harvard-educated man swoops in to save the day. However, to this concern I’d like to raise the point that Pod (as he was affectionately known back in my high school days) started his career at Durfee, a large urban public high school in a very financially, ethnically, racially, linguistically, culturally, etc. diverse city. Durfee students can be a very tough crowd, but Pod was able to build rapport, relationships, and trust. He was well-liked and well-respected, which is what you’d hope a leader to be. I think that folks will be pleasantly surprised by Pod’s arrival and I wish him all the best![/quote]
