I hear your concern here (and all of your concerns on the board, in general) and I agree that the optics are just… typical here. Young straight white Harvard-educated man swoops in to save the day. However, to this concern I’d like to raise the point that Pod (as he was affectionately known back in my high school days) started his career at Durfee, a large urban public high school in a very financially, ethnically, racially, linguistically, culturally, etc. diverse city. Durfee students can be a very tough crowd, but Pod was able to build rapport, relationships, and trust. He was well-liked and well-respected, which is what you’d hope a leader to be. I think that folks will be pleasantly surprised by Pod’s arrival and I wish him all the best!

Since this thread was revived; when are the SOLs coming out? I know my kid passed but I'm curious about how well. Thanks.

I didn't interact with him or see him interact with anybody. I just saw him. He looked like a pic in a mag. I don't sleep with children and he's really young.But now that you mention it...he is over 18....

Former ATS parent here (kid is now in hs). Gildea would have been excellent. My daughter had her as a 4th grade teacher and she was amazing. She was the lead 4th grade teacher and really kept things organized. I asked her in October about the end of the year trip, and she was able to tell me that it wouldn't be Jamestown that year (we were going to go there as a family but I didn't want to do it if she was going again the same year.) Fleet got a good one!

My hope is he will be a good administrator! What do you think of the Vice Principal? She was an ATS teacher correct? Hopefully she’ll be able to bring in that in school experience. I don’t know much about ATS. Our kindergarten experience was excellent and my DD’s teacher was amazing! I’m hoping that first grade will be just as good!
