I’ve distanced myself from my gun loving family. I’m polite. I’ll attend family gatherings. But I’ve lost all respect for them. As far as I’m concerned, if you voted Republican, you killed those babies.
Stop blaming republicans. They didn't kill those kids. This was a very troubled young man who didn't get the help he needed from his parents/family, school and community. Lets start there.
Everyplace has troubled young men. Every place does not have republican policies allowing them to buy assault rifles.
If they didn't buy them legally, they just would buy illegal ones or find another option. Guns are not the problem, people are.
So what? Can we at least TRY?! I'm SO sick of this god damn argument. We don't say that about anything else, do we? "Well, people who really want to find a way to bomb will find a way regardless, so let's make bombs accessible to everyone." "If a 13 year old really wanted to drive a car, they'll just do it illegally." yeah, true, but we still make kids wait until their 16 to LEGALLY drive a car. Yeah, a terrorist who really wants to hijack a plane can probably get through security and do it, but we still have security at airports and laws about what you can and cannot bring on a plane to make it more difficult to do so. Someone who really wants to shoplift still will, but that doesn't mean we throw our hands up in the air and say "oh well." Stores have security tags on items, cameras, detectors at exits, etc. to make it MORE DIFFICULT TO DO SO. It's illegal to own a pet lion, but if I was determined to do it...I'm sure could find a way to get one on the black market. And people do. Does that mean the US Fish and Wildlife, etc. should just get rid of all exotic pet ownership/importation laws cuz, ya know, people can (and do) find a way to do things illegally if they really want to? Worms for brain, I swear.
