I subscribe to the 5’ is 100lbs then add 5lbs per inch rule. So 5’4” ideal weight is 120. But that rule is my personal maximum. I’m 5’2.5” and weigh 107, so if I gained anything past 112 is when I’d get serious about watching my weight.
I thought it was 105 for the first 5', then 5 lbs an inch. So, 140 at 5'7, which I am and everyone tells me I'm soooo thin/ eat a cheeseburger.
This is the first time I have ever heard this extremely disordered take on what a woman should weigh. I am 5-2 and weigh 115-120 depending on the week. Guess I better get on a diet!
What’s disordered about it? I’m the pp that cited the rule. I’m not underweight or anything. I wear a size 2-4. I’m strong and eat healthfully. Nothing wrong with a lighter bmi in the healthy range, rather than aiming for average, especially if you have a small frame. My wrists and rib cage are very tiny, I need a 28F bra (I’m still nursing a toddler so I’m sure that cup size will shrink though).
+1. Also, 5'2" PP who is calling this rule "extremely disordered": did you maybe misunderstand? Because at 5'2" and 115, you accord with the rule exactly.
