You’re just being dramatic, OP.
She is in LA the land of the dramatics. Oh no milk is expensive! You’ll survive, look at the people in Yemen, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Honduras, Venezuela, Nigeria, Haiti, Central African Republic, Uganda. They are all still alive.
I’m in LA living off $37k while going to school full time to get my PhD and gas is $6.59. Congratulations that you don’t have to worry about the price of food. I know many Europeans and Canadians who can’t/won’t drink American milk. We don’t add hormones back home and the taste is really hard for me to drink. Maybe you don’t like mushrooms- is that dramatic?
Then shop at Walmart, Aldi's and Lidl and pick cheaper products. You don't need organic. Or, apply for food stamps.
I used to shop Walmart, but now the prices are crazy high. Maybe in your area it hasn’t increased as much, but in California is actually not a great deal anymore. I’ve been going to Asian and Armenian markets for produce and that is still reasonable.
