I'm a licensed attorney with a deep interest in privacy law. And my seminar paper in law school was on state coercion/control of women's use of contraception through welfare programs and incentives. "States rights" is a convenient and lazy argument for any federal right one opposes. And here the right they don't agree with is your right to privacy in matters of using contraception to prevent pregnancy. It's frankly sad and backward that we need/needed the US Supreme Court to articulate this as it should be fundamental and not wrapped up in the culture wars. But here we are. My post title stands: Michigan GOP comes out against right to contraception.[/quote]
