To the extent that you are saying that ONLY socioeconomic diversity is "true" diversity, I disagree.  Black, white, Latino, Asian - they may all earn the same, but their backgrounds, including their socioeconomic backgrounds, may be vastly different.  There is much to appreciate and learn from racial diversity, diversity of origin (immigrant/non-immigrant), religious diversity, etc., etc., as well as from current socioeconomic diversity.   The idea that there is only the one, true Diversity is preachy and misguided.[/quote]

Only Strom Thurmond acknowledges that race is a factor that can shape people's experiences and outlook?  Are you kidding me?  You don't believe that non-white children might have a few different experiences growing up than white children, even controlling for income level?  I think some of us have news for you![/quote]
