How could half of an individual portion of steak be so troublesome?
Yes, I mean a 1/2 beef tenderloin.
Why can’t you just cut one in half?
Because I don’t want to buy a whole one. My family won’t eat frozen meat.
Wow, ok. Well... you don't have to tell them it was previously frozen.
They can tell. Maybe it’s my freezer. It just tastes off.
Are you just freezing it in a big open container? Are you freezing it after it's been cooked? I worked in food service since I was a teen and freezing meet is incredibly common.
Say I bought a package of ground beef that I didn’t end up using. I’d just throw the package in the freezer. Maybe it needs to be wrapped differently.
I put all meat in ziplocs and push out the air before freezing. Store plastic wrap won't prevent freezer burn.
PP who worked in food service here. YES. That's what freezer bags are for. Like if you have ground beef you're going to mix with strong spices or sauce, such probably won't taste it. Otherwise, bag that stuff up properly.
