As OP divulges more info, it seems that the GF being in denial/defensive of her daughter is perhaps because..... the OP is unreasonably blaming the daughter. I was the poster who said that what actually happened doesn't matter. What matters is that one (or maybe both) of the adults is thinking shitty stuff about their SO's kid.
