DP.  Names are a contentious issue and parents have strong viewpoints.  At my school teachers are required to use only the name specified by the parent.  If the parent says the kid is "Larlo" and the kid asks to be called "R-Lo" then we still must use "Larlo."  When I take roll on the first day and a kid tells me his or her nickname, then later that day I send an email to the parent or guardian requesting guidance for my team teachers.[/quote]
