Me too. But I cannot even imagine. I am the family mail opener and I wouldn’t even think of opening a package for my spouse. Even with Amazon packages, if I’m not expecting something, I don’t open it even though most packages are family and household stuff. It is just so far out of bounds. [/quote]

+1.  Setting aside what the gift was for a moment, OP’s MIL went through their mail, opened OP’s birthday gift from her parents, and then used it without permission, before OP had even seen it.  What decent person thinks that is okay?[/quote]
