Wait a second- if my GW 7th grader gets ID as a close contact to an infected student, she has to quarantine at home for 2 weeks and there's no virtual learning? She will watch TV for 2 weeks? That can't be right? It's inevitable that 1/4 of the school will end up quarantining at some point.
There may or may not be virtual learning, but the 14-day quarantine is correct. Alexandria Health Dept., unlike the CDC, does not recommend shortening the 14-day quarantine even with a negative test. If your child is symptomatic, they can quarantine for 10 days or shorten the quarantine with a medical clearance note or negative test. It makes no sense.
